Tmem100- and Acta2-Lineage Cells Contribute to Implant Osseointegration in a Mouse Model

We found that alpha smooth muscle actin (encoded by Acta2) expressing cells contribute to bone formation around titanium implants in a mouse model of osseointegration. We performed tibial implant surgery on Acta2.creERT2; R26.tdTomato mice, pulsed them with tamoxifen once at the end of surgery, and retrieved implanted tibial specimens 9 days later. We purified tdTom+ cells with flow cytometry and performed single cell RNA-seq.
